Position Summary:
The Community Financial Educator is responsible for facilitating workshops and one on one financial counseling sessions. This position is also responsible for developing strategic relationships with community organizations that are interested in improving financial literacy and self-sufficiency to the community at -large.
Community Outreach Responsibilities:
1. Organize, plan, and facilitate financial education workshops on topics such as budget, credit and identity theft.
2. Conduct one on one counseling sessions as part of workshop offerings in community.
3. Research and assess community financial educational needs, identify opportunities to fill those needs, and develop plans to meet those needs.
4. Build and sustain relationships with current, new, and potential collaborating organizations through meetings, networking opportunities, communications and events.
5. Serve on local committees representing financial literacy needs and resources in the community
6. Provide accurate, timely reports, and documentation of program activities for organization’s database, and grant reporting including qualitative and quantitative information.
7. Develop new curricula (presentations) and materials & updating current curricula used in the community.
8. Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Qualifications:
1. Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
2. Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of experience in financial education and 1 year in customer service
3. Excellent facilitator with proven ability to present information to diverse groups both online and in-person
4. Must have strong relationship-building and interpersonal flexibility, solid organizational skills, problem solving abilities, excellent facilitation, coaching and communication skills
5. A robust understanding of personal finances, particularly in the areas of budgeting, asset building, and credit building
6. Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, NFCC Credit Counseling Certification, NFCC Certified Credit Educator Certificate (to be obtained within first six months of employment)
7. Flexibility with schedule; position requires some early mornings, evenings, and weekends
8. Supervisory Responsibility, if any: n/a
9. Environment; demonstrate ability to comprehend verbal and written information in addition to responding to clients and/or employees.
