Description
Modular Construction: What is it and how are they going to do it in Newton?
28 Austin, dubbed "Newton’s newest, smartest, and friendliest apartments," is finally under construction. While its foundation and first floor lobby and retail spaces will be built conventionally on site, its 68 apartments, its common areas, and a guest suite will all be built modularly, in a factory, trucked to site, and lifted in place in a carefully orchestrated sequence with an oversized crane. While new to Newton, modular construction is increasingly gaining popularity nationally as it promises to save time, reduce material waste, and ensure a more consistent, higher quality product. Join us for at one of Newton’s oldest sites – the historic Durant-Kenrick House -- to learn about this fascinating construction process and how Austin Street Partners is using it to create one Newton’s newest. Presented by the Chambers’ Real Estate Committee.
Coffee and networking begin at 8:30, presentation to begin promptly at 9 a.m.
