Description
How much do your children know about their family heritage?
- How much do they know about their grandparents' lives and where their parents came from?
- In fact, what do you know about your family history?
But how do you write a life? Join LifeJourneys Media as we demonstrate how to use questions and memory prompts to capture, preserve and share family history and precious life stories.
This workshop will be led by Naomi Grossman, founder of LifeJourneys Media. After years of giving lifestory-telling workshops to seniors she realized there was a need for people to be able to easily share and preserve their precious life stories. She saw, firsthand, the transformative power the process of sharing life stories had on seniors. It engaged them, challenged them and helped them connect to their children, grandchildren and caregivers in a way that allowed their loved ones to truly understand who they are and where they come from. The engaging workshop will also show how empowering seniors to share their unique life stories can also build relationships and create a lasting legacy families will treasure.
The session will be augmented by Wendy Adlerstein, LSW, Executive Director at FirstLight Home Care of West Suburban Boston. Wendy has more than 20 years of experience in working with seniors. She holds a B.A. from Clark University, in Psychology with a concentration in Sociology and Human Services. In addition to her Massachusetts License in Social Work, Wendy holds a Certificate in Gerontology from the Worcester Consortium Gerontology Program. She is a member of the Aging Life Care Association (ALCA), formerly the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers. Finally, Wendy is a Certified Dementia Practitioner® in good standing from the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners.
This interactive presentation encourages participants to ask questions and provide their own anecdotes.
There is ample, free parking both in the front and rear of the office building. Complimentary refreshments will be served.
