Description
Due to popular demand, Historic Newton is once again releasing videos from its House Tour showcasing the work of pioneering female designer Maud Brodrick, adding a panel discussion that features three contemporary “Groundbreaking Women of Newton.” A marketing genius with no formal training in architecture, Brodrick, a Newton resident, developed and sold hundreds of homes in the 1920s and 1930s, when few women worked in the field.
Panelists in our discussion have demonstrated a similar pioneering, entrepreneurial spirit:
- Suzanne Abair, President/COO, Northland, and Co-Owner/President, Atlanta Dream (WNBA)
- Ritah Nakandi, Founder/CEO, Afri-root Collective; Co-founder, Meetcaregivers
- Bridget Ray-Canada, Member, Newton School Committee; Co-Founder, Newton Coalition of Black Residents; Senior Global Supply Chain Strategy Manager, Cabot Corporation
The tour videos will be released for viewing Saturday, May 22 – Sunday, May 23, with the panel discussion taking place Sunday, May 23 at 3 p.m. on Zoom. The House Tour Encore Presentation is presented by S+H Construction and The Village Bank.
