Description
What can minestrone soup, French-Canadian tourtiere (pork pie) and tea brack tell us about the history of the neighborhood that surrounds Greentail Table?
These recipes appear in St. Jean’s Book of Favorite Recipes, published by the Women’s Guild of St. Jean’s Catholic Church in 1982. The church, started by the French-speaking community in 1894, was an important local institution until it closed in 1997.
The recipes in this archived cookbook reflect the mix of immigrants who once called Nonantum home. In this engaging presentation by Clara Silverstein of Historic Newton, you’ll learn about the neighborhood’s culinary traditions, and warm up with a beverage from the cookbook called The Snow Blower. Limit of 24 attendees for this fascinating talk and tasting. Cost is $10.
