Description
The list of potential pitfalls for employers is long and complicated. Mistakes when dealing with employees (and potential employees) are easy to make and can prove very costly to the employer, and in some instances, its individual principals. Fortunately, particularly when it comes to employment law, knowledge is power. Liz Adler and Nancy Perlman of Beacon Law Group, LLC will discuss various pitfalls and the actions that small business owners and managers can implement today in order to protect yourself and your company from liability tomorrow.
Topics include:
- the hiring process
- handling internal complaints
- handling disciplinary matters and performance concerns
- which leave laws apply, and how to handle leave requests
- what are the “protected classes” relative to discrimination laws
Registration, coffee and light breakfast (from Hazel's Bakery, courtesy of Needham Bank) starting at 8:30am. Presentation to begin promptly at 9a.m. Open to members and non-members at no charge, but please register in advance.
